So here we are...

A couple of weeks ago my friend Leah took me to get a pedicure, out to eat and then shopping. Seems to be our "before baby" tradition now. I think next time we are going to have to do it when there are not any babies in the near future though. (Unless it's your turn Leah!?!? *hint, hint*wink, wink*) I got my hair cut last week, and my mom came and helped me clean last weekend. Yep, I think I'm papmered and ready for this new little one to join our family.

We are down to only hours before we head to the hospital to find out what this "mystery" baby is going to be. I am going to be induced tomorrow and have been instructed to report to the hospital at 6am. Now this is not my first induction, so I have absolutely no preconceived notion that anything is going happen too quickly. I am just hoping to see the face of this beautiful baby sometime tomorrow and not still be in labor at 12:01 Saturday morning! We met my mom for supper tonight and she took the boys to spend the night at her house tonight. Thanks, Mom! I know the boys are excited. It always makes me feel better when they are excited to go. Carter could hardly get rid of us soon enough. He even told Robert that we couldn't stay. As we tried to kiss and hug Collin good bye he was pointing to Grandma's van and saying "van, van". Even after we put him in her van he pointed to the door and said "close". Sure... I could say that it makes me feel a little unwanted, but honestly, it just makes me happy to know that they will be happy while they have to be away from us.

Tomorrow Carter has school and my sister-in-law, Holly, is going to be dropping off and picking him up for that and then keeping the boys during the day tomorrow. I don't know what we would do without you, Holly. We Love you! I have had a couple of people ask if Carter is excited for the baby to come. But right now he is just so excited about seeing his cousins that the baby is just an after thought.

This morning Collin fell on the sidewalk outside our front door and skinned up his lip. I was worried at first that his teeth went through his lip. It was bleeding pretty good. Luckily he just tore some skin with his teeth on the inside and got road rash on the outside. Poor fella could hardly even eat anything today though because of how raw it was. I wish I had a picture of his ouchie to share. I am sure you'll be able to see it when we get pictures of him with the new baby though. Robert said today, "why do I have a feeling he is going to be our first child to get a cast?" I guess these are the things you think of when you are not only a father but also an orthopedic PA.

Well, I think this will probably be my last post as a family of 4. Hopefully the next time I am on here I will be able to announce the joy of a new, healthy, happy, baby ______ ! I know the suspense is just killing so many of you! I love it! Hehehe

They'll never find me now...

I just had to share this picture of the way that Robert found Collin sleeping the other night when he went in to cover him up.
Robert said, "Go in and check out Collin... If you can find him..."
Yes... He was Asleep!
Sound Asleep!!

I just love it when they sleep with their little bottoms in the air.

We're gonna go, go, go...

This is Carter's new favorite cartoon.

Keeping with the story line of the Cat in the Hat book, each episode starts out with these two kids...

Sally and Nick. Who are bored and have nothing to do. So the Cat in the Hat appears and fixes that for them. Unlike the book, where in my opinion, they're just making a mess and cleaning it up. Don't get me wrong, I like the book. But, the PBS cartoon always has a little more of an educational spin to it. Which I like even better! :)

The first time that we watched the cartoon, one line that the Cat says caught my attention. In each episode he asks the kids if they want to go somewhere and then he says, "Your mother will not mind at all if you do". At first I was a little taken back by a "stranger" saying this to the kids. This is the kind of comment that we are supposed to be trying to protect our kids from, Right?? But the kids do ask for permission from their mom every time. So I guess that makes me feel a little better that they are at least asking for permission. That, and I have talked to Carter about not going with strangers.

Anyway, back to the point of my blog...

Carter has started to notice this part of the cartoon. The other day he said to me, "every time the kids ask their mom if they can go on an adventure, she Always says Yes!" He was in such shock!

Now, I have to add that the things they are asking her are outrageous and she is always half laughing at how ridiculous the question is when she says Yes to them.

So after Carter told me this for the second day in a row I just had to ask him... "What would your Mom say?"

His reply, "Sometimes yes... sometimes No."

Well... at least I say yes sometimes! Because, I am sure there will come a time (teen/ pre-teen years) when he tells me that all I say is No.

A little too quiet...

Last night for supper we decided to get some "take and bake" pizza from a familiar chain restaurant. After ordering and while waiting for them to make the pizza they gave us one of their new creations to take home and try, a S'mores dessert pizza.

We ate our pizza, and everyone tried the S'more pizza. YUM, by the way! We think it would have been better on a thinner crust, but that's just our opinion.

After supper Collin got out the musical instruments and the boys were playing and dancing and singing. In with the musical instruments we have three egg shakers. After a while of listening to the rock concert, I decided to have Carter hide his eyes and I was going to hide the eggs for him to find. He was up for it and it turned into a pretty fun game for him. Robert and Carter were taking turns hiding their eyes while the other hid the eggs. After a couple of rounds it was getting to be time for bed.

About that time we noticed that Collin was "missing". While we were hiding the eggs he thought it was funny to run out when we said "Come out, Come out, wherever you are". So I thought he went back to hide his eyes with Robert in Carter's room and was still back there playing. Robert said, no he wasn't with him, he thought Collin was playing in his own room. Wherever he was, he was being VERY quiet.

So we started looking for him and calling his name, and this is what we found...

When we first found him, he was opening a drawer with that chocolaty hand!
(You mean I can't eat the rest??)

You just have to laugh when you see this sweet face all covered in chocolate!

Are you drinking enough water?

That is the first thing the ultrasound tech asks me every time I have a sonogram done. Buuuut...

I passed! I had my ultrasound on Thursday to make sure that my amniotic fluid was going up. If you remember this post from 4 weeks ago, it was a little low. It turns out all I needed to do was drink more water. And that I did! There were many days when I was drinking 6 - 32oz jugs of water a day. Of course not everyday was that good. But I suppose you'll have that with two other children and multiple places to run. But I did try, that's what really matters. Right? The amniotic fluid is now at a 12. (Within the normal range of 12-14) However, I can't stop the drinking. I need to keep it up. It wouldn't hurt it to be a smidge higher. But we don't want it going down again. So if you see me out and about without my water in hand, feel free to yell at me and make sure I'm getting my fill of water for the day.

PLUS... It was great to see that precious little face again. Can't wait to meet this new little one. It won't be long now. Only 6 weeks left!

You've got a friend in me...

*Collin and his new best friend (Woody) watching "Way" (Woody) on Toy Story*
Collin is SO attached to this Woody doll right now. He got it from Uncle Tyler and Aunt Brandi for his birthday back in July. He liked it, but hasn't play with it on a regular basis, until a few weeks ago. He has to have Woody in his bed when he goes to sleep. On his pillow, AND covered up. When he wakes up he makes sure to pick Woody up before we get him out of bed. If for some reason he falls asleep without him, or we put him in his bed asleep and Woody's not in there, Woody is the first thing he is asking for when he wakes up... "Way", "Way" (as Collin says). He carries Woody around the house and likes to put him up on his shoulders. He points out Toy Story and Woody everywhere we go. At home, at the gym daycare, at the store... you get the picture.

The best part is that Woody is practically as tall as Collin is!

The Great Hypopafis

I know it's a little hard to see. But it is a bunch of letters inside a big bubble.

After breakfast this morning Carter wanted a piece of paper so he could "write". A little later he brought this to me, and asked me if I liked it. I asked him if he could explain it to me. (I hate it when I think his drawings are one thing and they are really something totally different. So I have found that it is best if I have him explain them to me before I comment.)

He said, "sure, it's my hypopafis".

Me, "your Hypothesis?"

Carter, "Yep, I wrote down my hypothesis."

We may be lacking a little in this house... But Hypothesis? It's just not a word that we throw around on a daily basis. In fact I was not even sure if that was what he had really said or if I was putting words into his mouth.

So, I said, "What is a hypothesis?"

He said, "It's what I think, Mom."

Okay, so he did know what he was talking about. Silly me. I confirmed it with his teacher this afternoon, they have been learning about science and talking about hypothesis. We are so lucky to have him in such a great preschool!
